Budget and Taxes

Anne Arundel County is in a stronger fiscal condition than it’s ever been.

• We have kept our taxes significantly lower than any other county in the region, and in this year’s budget we lowered the income tax rate and set the property tax rate further below the charter-mandated cap than any budget in county history.

• Our disciplined fiscal management during the last three budget cycles earned the county its first Triple-A bond rating from Moody’s.

• This year’s budget reduces borrowing, removes the structural deficit, and increases revenue reserves. These reforms have positioned our county to withstand future economic downturns.

• We did all of this while increasing support for essential services: public safety, education, health, and our environment.
